THE LAND

The commercial land 50 acres and 25,000 agarwood trees planted on the land in Pasir Panjang. It consists of 2 species which are Mallencesis and Crassna. There are also 10 units of (brand new) distillery fully installed and ready to use on the land.

The trees have reached its maturity stage and ready to be inoculated (a process to induce inoculant soluHon into the tree trunk/branches to boost the growth of agarwood resin formation for 2 years then harvested and distilled to produce Oudh oil (essential oil).

According to the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) in July 10, 2019 that the downstream industry for agarwood is performing at a robust pace.

The growth of the global agarwood essential oil market is driven by the cultural, religious, and traditional importance of the product such as personal care and aromatherapy. Also, the growing demand for organic and natural cosmetics is expected to pave the way for profitable opportunities for the processors of agarwood oil in the global market.

THE PROCESS

The yield of agarwood resin per tree can vary significantly based on several factors, including the species of the tree, its age, the method of inoculation, and environmental conditions. Generally, the production of agarwood resin (also known as “oud” oil) is not very high. Here’s a rough estimation:

1. Inoculated Trees: • When agarwood trees are inoculated and properly managed, a single tree might produce around 1-2 kg of agarwood resin over several years.

• The yield of essential oil (oud) extracted from the resin is usually between 0.2% to 2%, depending on the quality of the resin and extraction method.

2. Typical Yield Calculation: • For a high-quality yield, let’s assume an average of 1.5% essential oil extraction from the resin.

• If a tree produces 2 kg of resin, the essential oil yield would be 2kg x 0.015 = 0.03kg = 30ml

Therefore, for a well-managed agarwood plantation with effective inoculation and favorable conditions, you might expect:

• Each tree can produce approximately 30 ml of agarwood oil over its productive lifespan.

Production per Tree: 30 ml

20,000 x 30ml/tree = 600,000ml

THE PROCESS

The success rate of agarwood trees, specifically 13-year-old trees, in producing high-quality resin after inoculation depends on several factors, including the inoculation method, tree health, environmental conditions, and post-inoculation care. However, some general estimates and industry insights can be provided.

Lower Bound Estimate

At the lower end, if conditions are not optimal or if less effective inoculation techniques are used, the success rate might be around 60%.

Upper Bound Estimate

With optimal conditions and advanced inoculation methods, success rates can be as high as 90%.

Post-Inoculation Care

Effective post-inoculation care, including regular monitoring, pest control, and nutrient management, significantly improves the chances of successful resin production.
